Historic Downtown Mount Pleasant will soon have a new look. The City of Mount Pleasant, with received grants through the Tennessee Department Of Transportation, will be making improvements to Main Street (State Highway 243). Outdated infrastructure is slated to be replaced and will include underground utilities, new sidewalks, and an expansion of Mount Pleasant’s Square. Please see the above rendering of the project. As more information is received, we will be sharing updates to schedules and timelines on this website.
In 2022, Mount Pleasant Main Street received a Downtown Improvement Grant through the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development and the Tennessee Main Street Program. This grant, in the amount of $150,000 is currently being used to assist downtown property and business owners to restore and renew the facades of buildings in Mount Pleasant’s Historic Downtown District. Ten property owners have been approved for assistance. Updates will be made as projects are completed.
